Flagship Associate Manager at Glossier

As a Glossier Flagship Associate Manager you will be an integral stakeholder in shaping and delivering our unique and nontraditional retail experience in our NYC Flagship. We are looking for a quick and thoughtful thinker and problem solver to help us bring our unique retail experience to life. In this role, you will be a present mentor and coach for the store team and be a part of managing the front-of-house and back-of-house operations. You will be ensuring our retail operations are running smoothly and efficiently, our team is feeling supported and we’re all working collaboratively to create the best customer experience possible. We’re looking for a strong leader who thrives in a high-volume environment and is able to positively impact a large team.

Responsibilities

Team Management

  • Drives and builds a team-centric culture
  • Being a self-starter, overcoming ambiguity with ease
  • Schedules shifts, creates daily zone charts, processes payroll and vacation/time-off requests
  • Manages store traffic and flow; offers support and reassigns team members based on staffing needs
  • Monitors individual performance of each team member and delivers feedback thoughtfully
  • Demonstrates strong conflict management and resolution skills
  • Courageous leader who can appropriately handle conflicts with customers and employees alike
  • Works strategically with the leadership team to improve and develop Glossier retail operations and employee experience
  • Collects quantitative and qualitative feedback and insights on a daily and weekly basis and shares them with a sense of urgency as needed

Onboarding and Training

  • Assists with hiring and training of new team members, along with on-going training
  • Mentors new team members and welcomes them into the Glossier community

Inventory and Facilities

  • Maintains a 360-view of store operations, facilities, merchandising, flow and experience elements, and ensures that company and retail standards are being met
  • Maintains store supplies and manages ordering processes
  • Ensures proper inventory receiving processes and execution of inventory counts

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-4 years experience managing and motivating large teams in high-volume retail or hospitality environments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally, patiently and effectively with customers, team members and corporate partners
  • Can routinely deliver an exceptional customer experience and create community
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance in order to ensure adequate store coverage
  • Fully open availability and can work a flexible schedule--including evenings, weekends and holidays--that may vary as business dictates
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 6-8 hours a shift in a retail environment
  • Ability to freely access all areas of the store, including sales floor and stock areas, by standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing a ladder or step stool
  • Ability to fully engage with customers, including applying products to customers’ faces, sharing product knowledge, and creating positive shopping experiences unique to the customers’ individual needs
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at any given time; ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Computer and technology proficient
  • Comfortable working in an environment that is frequently photographed and recorded
  • Lives in or around New York City, in a commutable distance from the job location
