About This Role
Reporting into the VP of Finance, the Assistant Controller will be based out of our headquarters in New York, NY.  This is a highly visible role leading all the Accounting and Financial Reporting functions for the Company. As a key member of our Finance leadership team, you will manage our accounting team and related functions through rapid growth. We are seeking a self-starter that is highly motivated, team-oriented, and results-driven to work in an exciting, fast-paced and dynamic environment. Must have ability and desire to take on responsibilities, be an active team member, and oversee a small team. This is a hands-on collaborative opportunity and will be integral in enhancing and implementing process improvements.
What You’ll Do
  • Manage daily accounting operations for billing, collections, and payables; creating scalable processes to ensure financial information is properly captured, reconciled and documented
  • Oversee the monthly close process to issue timely and accurate monthly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP; review related account analysis for accuracy
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement accounting policies and controls, including documentation and technical memos
  • Research technical accounting issues and provide expert advice/guidance
  • Prepare and/or review certain financial support and statements, including but not limited to cash flow statements
  • Prepare certain accounting entries, such as payroll and stock compensation
  • General ledger maintenance (sub ledger/client-matter mapping, new department and account setup including department & account groups for reporting)
  • Prepare monthly management reporting and quarterly Board of Directors packages 
  • Lead the year-end audit and tax return filings; ensure all necessary work is performed, auditors’ questions and follow-up items are addressed to ensure the audit is completed timely and efficiently
  • Drive process improvement to support financial system & and operational processes; capable of pioneering and leading change 
  • Partner with department leaders to understand key issues and business drivers and collaborate with FP&A team to maintain financial model and forecasts, and increase efficiency of periodic reporting
  • Ad-hoc requests and special projects, such as system upgrades/implementations, workflow automation, account trend and vendor cost analysis, etc.

  • Bachelors and/or Masters in Accounting/Finance.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in both public and private accounting: CPA is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills required (vlookups, pivot tables, sum if, indirect, etc)
  • Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems and implementations, Netsuite is a plus
